Space matters
You have to lose yourself to find your "self".
This line is so deep and the way it is written hides the meaning of it.
The space between you and yourself makes all the difference.
Currently, that space doesn’t exist.
That’s why whatever is yours - your body, your senses, your breath, your mind, your desires, your emotions - you consider them as your self.
Because there is no space between what is yours and you, the self.
When that space comes, that is called detachment.
That is when you realise who you are.
That’s what we call self-realisation (quite literally right).
But how do we create that space?
Look at the physical world.
Decluttering creates space in your cupboard.
Erasing unnecessary words creates space on a page.
Similarly, removing whatever is unnecessary creates space within us too.
We have to remove unnecessary thoughts from our mind, needless relationships from our life, useless actions, and whatever else keeps occupying us without serving us.
Slowly, when we have fewer things and become more minimal, we create space in every realm of our life, mind and body.
And in that space, perhaps, we begin to see the difference between you and yourself.
“And this is what meditation is all about: creating a distance between you and your mind.” — Osho
